1,239 criminals arrested in Samastipur in past three months
Samastipur, Apr 08 (UNI) With 1,239 miscreants, including 25 dreaded criminals, being arrested during the past three months in the district, the initiative earlier taken by the administration to check the growing crime rate is now yielding results.
Superintendent of Police Surendra Lal Das said here today that as many as 1,239 criminals were arrested under a special drive launched in January this year.
''The task force recovered 15 countrymade pistols, one rifle, huge amount of live cartridges and four vehicles during the special drive,'' he added.
Altogether 55 accused were awarded ten years rigorous imprisonment in the hearings against the arrested criminals, he informed.
He further informed that a prosecution cell was also set up at the district level for meting out the punishment to the criminals.
