Army Jawan commits suicide in Jammu

Jammu, Apr 7 (UNI) An army jawan posted in IX Corps here allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service INSAS rifle last night, a Defence spokesman said today .

Sepoy Kitty Kumar, 21, committed suicide at 22 ammunition coy in Nagrota area at around 2015 hrs yesterday, defence spokesman Lt Col S D Goswami said. He was resident of Mehsana, Gujarat.

Army has instituted a Court of Inquiry (COI) to look into the matter, the spokesman said.

However, sources revealed that the jawan was distressed due to some family matters.
