Tibetan monks observe hunger strike in K'taka

Bangalore, Apr 3 (UNI) Hundreds of Tibetan Buddhist monks from various monasteries in the state today staged a day-long hunger strike here, demanding the United Nations to intervene in Tibet, where hundreds of Tibetans were brutally killed allegedly by the repressive Chinese Army.

The monks alleged that ''hundreds of Tibetan residents were 'done to death' when they were staging peaceful procession.'' They demanded that the UN should intervene immediately and send an independent agency to probe the brutal crackdown.

The monks also urged the UN to send a medical assistance team to treat the injured, who were being deprived of any medical aid allegedly by the Chinese army.
