KMC achieves 97 per cent tax collection
Kakinada, Apr 3 (UNI) The Kakinada Municipal Corporation (KMC) has collected property tax to the extent of 97 per cent by the end of March, Municipal Commissioner Yalla Siva Koti Prasad today said.
Against the total collection target of Rs 16.44 crore, the KMC was able to collect Rs 14.86 crore, he said, adding, on a single day on March 31, the collection was Rs 1.39 crore.
Compared to the previous year's collection of Rs 11 crore, this year's tax collection was nearly four crore more, he said.
He said as a consequence, the Corporation would be able to pay the salary, pension and DA arrears of the employees promptly every month.
However, he conceded that a very little amount was available for developmental works.
