Sansar Chandra to get Haryana's top literary award
New Delhi, Mar 29 (UNI) Eminent litterateur Sansar Chandra will be conferred the Haryana Sahitya Akademi lifetime achievement award for the year 2007-08 for his contribution in the field of literature.
The award Haryana Sahitya Ratan Samman, carries a cash prize of Rs two lakh. Dr Chandra is the first recipient of this award.
Dr Chandra, a well-known scholar has written about 50 books in Hindi, Sanskrit, English, Dogri and Punjabi.
His satirical writings are full of wit and humour and have been very well received by the readers. The Maharashtra Akademi had conferred on him the Chakallas Award in recognition to his promoting satirical writings. He also received an award from the UP government for promoting national integration through his book on prominent Muslim poets of Hindi literature.
He has also written books on works of ancient Indian Poets like Bhasa and Kalidasa.
Dr Chandra's works also include a biography of the last Mughal emperor, Bahadur Shah Zafar.
