Dubai to observe Earth Hour
Dubai, Mar 29 (UNI) Thousands of people will attened a lantern parade and the iconic Burj Al Arab will switch off its exterior lights plunging it into darkness to observe Earth Hour tonight.
The parade would begin at the Burj Al Arab and follow a two-km route along Beach Road to Jumeirah Beach Park and back.
Jumeirah Road would be closed for an hour between Al Thaniya and Umm Suqueim intersections in both directions. The intensity of streetlights would also be reduced on this road, the Gulf News reported.
Other landmarks, including Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Emirates Towers and Madinat Jumeirah will also switch off their exterior lights.
The Earth Hour supports the global initiative to combat global warming by turning off unnecessary lighting and appliances to conserve energy.
