Gangster-turned-policican Arun Gawli's cousin arrested
Mumbai, Mar 27 (UNI) Vijay Ahir, cousin of gangster-turned-politician Arun Gawli and his two associates were arrested by the Mumbai Police's Crime Branch for allegedly demanding extortion money of Rs 50 lakh from a builder in southcentral part of the city.
Police said that the trio- Vijay (45), Dinesh Narkar (23) and Sudhir Ghorpade (28) were arrested yesterday from their residence at Mazgao.
Narkar and Ghorpade had allegedly taken the builder to Gagdi Chawl at gun-point to meet Ahir as he failed to pay the extortion money on time. The builder then settled the matter for Rs eight lakh.
The accused were produced before the 37th Metropolitan Court, which remanded them to police custody till April 2, the police added.
