Over 1,600 posts vacant in AP Govt: Minister
Hyderabad, Mar 26 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Minister P Subhashchandra Bose today told the Legislative Council that the total number of posts vacant in Government departments and public sector undertakings in the state was 1,667.
Replying to a question by CPI MLC Jalli Wilson, he said the total posts vacant under SC category was 517, while in the ST category it was 1,150. Permission was given to appoint more than 20,000 people on contract basis in all Government departments.
Stating that there was no provision for regularisation of contract employees, the Minister said the time limit for filling up the backlog vacancies of the SC/STs had been extended to June 30.
