Haryana rules out hike in bus fare
Chandigarh, Mar 26 (UNI) Haryana Transport and Education Minister Mange Ram Gupta said that in spite of increase in the prices of diesel and essential parts of buses, there was no proposal to increase the bus fare of the state-owned Haryana Roadways.
This was stated by Mr Gupta while talking to the media persons at the Press Lobby of Haryana Vidhan Sabha here today.
To a question about plying of Volvo buses again in the state, Mr Gupta said an agreement was reached between the Haryana Roadways and a private firm. However, the firm had refused to ply Volvo buses and the legal action was being taken against them.
The Transport Minister also made it clear that keeping in view the demand of the people, the Transport Department was considering to ply Volvo buses on its own.
He said a new bus stand for Ambala City would be constructed after the availability of the land outside the city. Similarly, a modern bus stand was also being constructed at Karnal.
In principle it has been decided by the Transport Department that all the bus stands located in the cities would be shifted at the outskirts with the passage of time.
