Audit of Gram Panchayats biennial: Ranjit Kamble

Mumbai, Mar 26 (UNI) Maharashtra Minister of State for Rural Development Ranjit Kamble today said audit of all the 'Gram Panchayats' in state must be conducted at least biennially.

Replying to a question by Shivajirao Naik (Independent) regarding non-conduct of audit in several 'Gram Panchayats' in Sangli district, he said normally the audit should be conducted every year, but, if not possible, it must be conducted biennially.

He informed that 71 'gram sevaks' and village development officers have been found guilty on several counts, including the non-conduct of audit, and added that action will be taken against them.
