Research unit to come up in B M Birla Science Centre
Hyderabad, Mar 25 (UNI) The ground-breaking ceremony for the Research Centre in the B M Birla Science Centre complex was held here today.
The Research Centre, being built by the B M Birla Foundation, would house an observatory and the International Institute for Applicable Mathematics and Information Sciences, which had hubs at B M Birla Science Centre and University of Udine in Italy.
This international institute would be developed in accordance with the agreement signed by the then Italian President H E Ciampi and the then President A P J Abdul Kalam and Italian Minister for Education, University and Research Letizia Moratti, and Union Science and Technology Minister Kapil Sibal.
Representative of Italian Embassy in India Tassoni, Udine University Vice-Chancellor F Honsell and B M Birla Science Centre Director B G Sidharth were among those present on the occasion.
The ceremony was followed by an Indo-Italian workshop 'IT: Education, Research and Industry,' which was attended by entrepreneurs, professionals, academicians and students.
