Haryana Sanskrit Akademi announces awards
Chandigarh, Mar 25 (UNI) Haryana Sanskrit Akademi has announced awards for the year 2007-08, to honour eminent Sanskrit scholars of the state.
Haryana Education Minister Mange Ram Gupta, who is also the Vice-Chairman of the Akademi, said 'Maharishi Valmiki Puraskar' will be conferred on renowned Sanskrit scholar from Nilokheri, Mr Jainarain Yatri.
'Maharishi Vedvyas Puraskar' on noted scholar of Sanskrit, Hindi and Haryanavi from Rohtak, Mr Bharat Bhushan Sanghiwal and 'Baan Bhatt Puraskar' on critic of classical books Dr Virender Kumar Alankar from Gohana.
The 'Maharishi Valmiki Puraskar' consist of Rs one lakh cash award, the 'Maharishi Vedvyas Puraskar' and 'Mahakavi Baan Bhatt Puraskar' consist of a cash reward of Rs 51,000 each.
The Akademi has also decided to give a cash reward of Rs 21,000 to Prof Acharya Satyakam, an eminent scholar of Sanskrit and Culture from DN College, Hisar, who has written the book 'Nari Gauravam'.
