AIADMK leader urges court to take action against ministers

Puducherry, Mar 22 (UNI) AIADMK state secretary A Anbazhagan, MLA, today said the court should consider "boastings" of the ministers that the filing of cases against Education Minister M O H F Shajahan was "politically motivated" and blaming Chief Minister holding police portfolio for it as a "contempt of court" and initiate action against them.

Addressing a press conference here, he said the cases were registered against Mr Shajahan on the directive of court. But ministers Vaithilingam and Shajahan blamed Chief Minister N Rangasamy for it and said it was politically motivated. This was an insult to the police department, which acted promptly, he added.

He said if a State Government could not be run as per law, it could be dismissed by using Article 356 of the constitution with the permission of the President.

With the situation turning worse in Puducherry due to infighting between the Chief Minister and the ministers, party supremo Jayalalithaa had sought the dismissal of the Congress Government here and organsied an agitation.

The CPI, which criticised the AIADMK on the issue had no right to do so, he said adding the CPI was confusing the people. If they wish they could continue their support to the government or withdraw it.

Strongly criticising the government for raising the milk price Mr Anbazhagan said the party would organise agitation after obtaining the permission from High Command.
