UPCC convention venue shifted
Kanpur, Mar 21 (UNI) The venue for Uttar Pradeh Congress Committee (UPCC) convention scheduled to be held on March 30 and 31 has been shifted from Motijheel to Nanarao Park here in view of security reasons.
According to the city Congress Committe President Mahesh Dixit, the venue has been changed, following the directives of party high command.
He said AICC General Secretary and UP in-charge Digvijay Singh had inspected Motijheel and Phoolbagh grounds on Wednesday along with Union Minister of State for Home Sriprakash Jaiswal, UPCC chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi and Congress legislative party leader Pramod Tiwari.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi will arrive here on March 31 to address the party convention and rally, while party general secretary Rahul Gandhi will attend the convention for both days.
The shifting of the venue was also made keeping in view the 150th anniversary of freedom struggle of the country of 1857, Mr Dixit added.
