New Delhi, Mar 21 (UNI) After a glut of comedies over the last couple of years that had cinegoers rolling down the aisles, it is back to action thrillers for Bollywood lovers.

Storming the silver screen worldwide today, across 1600 screens in 26 countries, is Abbas Mustan's 'Race', the much-awaited action thriller whose action packed trailers have, over the past several weeks, set the pulse of cinegoers racing.

Being distributed worldwide by UTV Motion Pictures, 'Race', which heralds a season of action-packed mega-starrers in Bollywood, will have the highest number of shows ever screened in India with 3600 shows per day.

Featuring a promising starcast comprising Anil Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Bipasha Basu, Katrina Kaif and Akshaye Khanna, Race releases across 1300 screens in India, of which 450 are digital.

In the overseas market it releases almost across 300 screens with 56 in the UK, 118 in the US, 30 in Gulf, 14 in Australia and remaining in rest of the world.

According to UTV Motion Pictures, the worldwide release of the movie is part of their endeavour to ensure an impactful marketing and distribution strategy for most of their films. Recently, Jodhaa Akbar, a co-production venture by them, was released across 1300 screens worldwide.

''Race is one of the most awaited releases of the year and we are releasing it during the festive season. We have worked hard with the producers, exhibitors, partners, media and brand associates, to ensure it gets an unprecented promotion thrust and the widest possible distribution penetration worldwide,'' UTV Motion Pictures Director Siddharth Roy Kapur asserted.

Set against the highflying social fabric of South Africa, it is a story of two brothers, who live on the edge. Moreover, it is about betrayal and greed, intrigue and revenge. With the brothers pitched against each other who will win? The one who plays to win or the one who plays to defeat? With its ensemble cast, 'catchy' promos and chartbuster songs, which have, in recent weeks, climbed atop the popularity charts on almost all music channels and radio channels, 'Race' is one of the most awaited Bollywood films these days.

The movie also marks a return of action thrillers for Bollywood.

Scheduled for release in the coming months are a series of action thrillers that are sure to send the adrenalin of cinegoers soaring.

Set to release this year are 'actioners' like Yashraj's 'Tashan', Goldie Behl's 'Drona', Sanjay Gadvi's 'Kidnap', Vipul Shah's 'Singh Is King', Ram Gopal Verma's 'Sarkar Raj', Apoorva Lakhia's 'Mission Istanbul' and Prabhu Deva's 'Wanter Dead or Alive'.

While 'Tashan', scheduled for release in April, features Anil Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor, 'Drona' featuring Abhishek Bachchan in a 'Superhero' avatar. Vipul Shah's 'Singh is King' will witness Akshay Kumar's return to his first love-action, while Sanjay Gadvi's 'Kidnap' will feature Sanjay Dutt flexing his biceps.

Moreover, Apoorva Lakhia's 'Mission Istanbul' will see a comeback of Vivek Oberoi, in an action hero image, while Prabhu Deva's 'Wanted Dead or Alive' will entertain the audiences with their favorite Salman Khan donning an 'action hero' avatar. Also trying their luck as a action hero, this year, will be Aamir Khan, in the Hindi remake of the South Indian superhit 'Ghajini'.
