Textile mills workers' novel stir for higher wages

Puducherry, Mar 21(UNI) Employees of the government-owned Anglo-French textile mills here today resorted to a novel agitation to press their demands.

Demanding an upward revision of and dearness allowance on par with the staffs, the ''C'' unit workers remained in the mill even after their shift yesterday.

Today, they placed a pot of gruel in the mill. The ''B'' unit workers also followed suit.

Later, union leader Vazhumuni told newspersons that workers of ''A'' unit would also join the agitation tomorrow and place the pot of gruel in the mill if their demands were not settled by tomorrow.

He said the workers would also resort to 'mass begging' in front of the mill on March 24.
