Jaya's former counsel crosses over to DMK

Chennai, Mar 21 (UNI) Former counsel for AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa and Rajya Sabha MP N Jothi, who was denied the party's nomination for a second term, today crossed over to the ruling DMK.

Mr Jothi, joined the DMK in the presence of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and his cabinet colleagues at party headquarters Anna Arivalayam.

Later, addressing a press conference along with Mr Karunanidhi, Mr Jothi said he had resigned his Rajya Sabha MP post this afternoon.

''I sent my resignation letter this afternoon before joining the DMK,'' he said.

''Only the AIADMK supremo (Ms Jayalalithaa) is fully responsible for me to join the DMK, he said, adding ''only they (AIADMK) pushed me out of that party.'' He said he had joined the DMK seeking protection.

''I and my family members are under constant threat. They (AIADMK) also planned to attack me in Parliament. But I escaped as I did not attend the proceedings,'' he alleged.
