Court pulls up SHO for negligence in filing FIR
New Delhi, Mar 21 (UNI) A local court pulled up a Delhi Police Station House Officer (SHO) for causing unnecessary delay in registering an FIR in a case of robbery and assault.
Deepak Arora had approached the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Pulsatya Pramachala complaining that unidentified assailants robbed and stabbed him near the ITO bride on February 23. He was taken to Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital where SHO, IP Estate recorded his statement, but did not register any FIR.
The court had sought a report from the police officer by March 11. In his report the SHO submitted that an FIR in the case was registered on March 10 and also deliberately changed the date of offence to March 10.
The Magistrate directed the DCP (Central) to inquire into the incident and take action against the SHO concerned as delay in registering an FIR gives unnecessary advantage to the accused and cause harassment to the victim of a crime.
The court has asked the DCP to submit a report by March 27.
