EU Observation Mission condemns killing of polls candidate
Kathmandu, Mar 20 (UNI) The EU Election Observation Mission (EOM) to Nepal today strongly condemned the shooting of Kamal Prasad Adhikari, a Constituent Assembly candidate for the National People's Front of Nepal, in Banke district.
''I am extremely troubled by this tragic event and pass my sincere condolences to the victim's family,'' said EU EOM Chief Observer Jan Mulder said in a statement. He is scheduled to visit Nepalgunj in Banke district today.
''The EU observation mission deplores violence. It has no place at all in a democratic election,'' the statement added.
Cadres of the Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha led by Jwala Singh shot dead Adhikari on Tuesday night at his residence, Nepal News reported.
