Delhi Govt gives go ahead for UP link road from NH-24

New Delhi, Mar 20 (UNI) The Delhi Government today gave its nod to a proposal for construction of UP link road from NH-24 at the cost of Rs 334 crores.

Talking to reporters after clearing the project at a meeting of Expenditure Finance Committee (EFC), Delhi Finance Minister A K Walia said the proposal entails construction of the PWD corridor for improvement of UP Link Road from NH-24 crossing NOIDA More to Chilla Regulator.

''The project would be executed within 27 months.... It involves construction of UP Link Road (3.7 KM long) corridor and widening of this road from six lane to eight lane with grade separators to bridge the five T-junction and one four armed junction and also construction of an additional four lane bridge at Hindon Cut at Chilla Regulator,'' he explained.

Stressing on the need for infrastructure development before commencement of 2010 Commonwealth Games, Dr Walia said the corridor will provide smooth flow of traffic for residents of East Delhi and NOIDA.

''It would also go a long way in saving huge quantity of fuel and travel time apart from curbing air pollution,'' he added.

The Committee also cleared the project for the construction of 500 chambers for lawyers at Rohini District Courts at the cost of Rs 66.18 crores The chambers, to be constructed over an area of over 20300 sq meters, would be completed within 30 months after award of work.

The District Court, which has no chambers for lawyers, has been fully functional from January, 6 2006 and over 3,000 lawyers are practicing in it.
