17,000 consumers declare 63 MW unauthorised load in Haryana
Chandigarh, Mar 20 (UNI) About 17,000 consumers of different categories have declared 63 MW unauthorised load under the Voluntary Disclosure Scheme (VDS) launched by the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN).
The Voluntary Disclosure Scheme in respect of unauthorised extension of load has evoked enthusiastic response, a spokesman of DHBVN said here today.
He said maximum response to the scheme had been from farmers.
About 13,500 agriculture consumers have declared 47 MW load extended by them on their tube wells. The load has been regularized by the Nigam, under the scheme, without imposing any penalty.
As many as 3,250 domestic, 150 non-domestic and 111 industrial consumers have declared seven MW, 1.2 MW and 7.5 MW unauthorised load respectively.
As the under ground water table was going down regularly due to excessive pumping and scanty rains, extension of load has become necessary for farmers, he said.
The DHBVN has given them a chance to get the load regularized by declaring voluntarily.
On persistent demand of the electricity consumers, the VDS for unauthorised extension of load has been extended up to April 30, 2008 and a large number of additional applications for extension of load are being received in the offices of the Nigam, the spokesman said.
