OREDA proposes to set up wind power project in Koraput

Bhubaneswar, Mar 19 (UNI) The state government is considering a proposal of the Orissa Renewal Development Agency (OREDA) to set up a two-mw wind power project at Damandjodi in Koraput district, Science and Technology Minister Dyurodhan Majhi told the state assembly today.

Replying to a question of Ananta Das (BJD), the Minister said in addition to it Wind Resource Assessment was in eight different places of the state.

They were Damanjodi (North), Damanjodi (South),Nabarangpur, Brahmagiri,Dhamara, Chhatrapur, Paradeep and Chandipur.

The Minister said two wind power projects set up by the OREDA had generated 10,74,849 and 59,948 units of power. After these became defuct due to various reasons both the units were auctioned on the recommendations of both the union and state governments in 2007.

Meanwhile, two private companies --Reliance Industries Ltd and Mahavir Hightech Chemicals Ltd had got the state government's approval to set up solar power projects. Work for the projects would start after they obtain the permission from the central government, the minister said.
