FAM is against account based tax: Gurnani
Mumbai, Mar 18 (UNI) The Federation of Associations of Maharashtra (FAM) today strongly opposed the imposition of account based tax in lieu of Octroi.
Speaking to UNI, FAM President Mohan Gurnani said that a delegation of the association have today met Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh in regards of abolition of Octroi from Maharashtra.
The FAM has strongly opposed the proposal of imposition of account based tax instead of Octroi. Mr Gurnani said account based tax is not acceptable to traders because it will create more problems for them by way of harassment from officials and it will also boost the corruption.
However, Industries have given signal to the imposition of account based cess instead of Octroi, he added.
Mr Gurnani also said that after the budget session, the delegation will have another rounds of talks with top Government officials to find out other alternative instead of Octroi.
