DD channels to have universal signature tune of Vande Mataram

Mumbai, Mar 17 (UNI) All Doordarshan channels will henceforth play the universal signature tune of Vande Mataram, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi stated here today.

Former Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Ram Naik had written a letter to Mr Dasmunsi pointing out that Doordarshan I and Doordarshan II play different signature tune of Vande Mataram while starting their respective telecasts in the morning.

Mr Dasmunsi and Prasar Bharati agreed in principle over the lacuna in playing of signature tune of Vande Mataram and constituted a committee to examine the issue.

Mr Naik in a release issued here said Mr Dasmunsi informed him about the committees decision to replace the existing signature image and signature tune being telecasted in the beginning of morning transmission.

It has also been decided that the same signature image and tune will replace the existing ones on all Doordarshan channels, Mr Naik added.
