BEL pays Rs 36.41 cr to Centre
Bangalore, Mar 14 (UNI) Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) has paid Rs 36.41 crore to the Centre towards 60 per cent interim dividend for the current fiscal.
BEL, Chairman and MD, V V R Sastry presented the interim dividend cheque for Rs 36,41,37,600 to the Defence Minister A K Antony in Delhi today.
This is the fourth consecutive year that the Navratna Company was paying interim dividend, according to a release here.
BEL had been making profits continuously for more than four decades. The company's dividend payment had been continuously rising and last year the company paid a dividend of 180 per cent.
Last year BEL achieved turnover of Rs 3,952.69 crore and 85 per cent of the turnover came from products sold to the Armed Forces.
Starting with a single unit in the city in 1954, BEL now has nine units across the country. BEL is ranked 58 in the list of top 100 defence companies in the world according to 'Defence News' magazine.
