Manik calls Tripura people for suggestions
Agartala, Mar 12 (UNI) While assuring to continue with his development spree, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar urged all sections of the society to come up with suggestions for betterment of the state.
Addressing a mammoth victory rally organised by the state Left Front Committee here at stable ground yesterday, Mr Sarkar asked the government officials and bureaucrats to be more attentive to people's needs.
He has also asked the people to send their suggestions and complaints directly to the ministers, including him, if problems were left unresolved at the lower levels.
Mr Sarkar assured that the commitments in election manifesto of the Left Front would be fulfilled and the new government will continue its efforts to alleviate the sufferings of people living below poverty line and improve the standard of living among all sections.
Criticising the role of the Opposition parties, he said the mandate clearly shows that people of the state want peace and development. Reacting on the anti-incumbency factor in Tripura, Mr Sarkar said there is no scope for anti-incumbency as fifth Left Front government has always taken people-oriented steps.
Expressing his gratitude towards the people for the massive mandate, Mr Sarkar hoped that the sixth Left Front government would take all possible steps with their limited resources to fulfill the basic needs of the people.
''The massive victory of Left Front is the victory of truth, peace and development over false commitment and terror tactics of the Opposition parties,'' Mr Sarkar said and added that the victory of Left Front in Tripura would have impact in the national politics.
A politician, gentleman and one of the cleanest in the rank and file of CPI (M), Mr Manik Sarkar made the hat-trick as he was sworn in as Chief Minister of Tripura on Monday after the red bastion held sway in the tenth Assembly polls.
This was a record in Tripura's political history as the CPI (M)-led Left Front garnered overwhelming support of people, demolishing any anti-incumbency trend that the pre-poll predictions showed.
While Mr Sarkar's detractors harped on the corruption factor, the 59-year-old Marxist leader's progress, employment and rural development poll planks worked wonders as the people reposed their faith in the overall progress of the state, peace and stability.
