Not a single nomination paper filed today for Mar 26 election

Jaipur, Mar 10 (UNI) Not even a single nomination paper was filed today for the March 26 election on three Rajya Sabha seats from Rajasthan.

The electoral process had begun on March 8 with issuance of the Election notification but no nomination has been filed, so far Returning Officer and Rajasthan Assembly Secretary G L Chaudhary said.

The last date for filing nominations is March 15, scrutiny would be done on March 17 and withdrawals could be made by March 19.

The polling, if required, would be held on March 26 and election process would be over by March 29,Mr Chaudhary said.

One seat has already fallen vacant following resignation by former External Affairs Minister Natwar Singh. Besides Mr Singh, Congress' Prabha Thakur and BJP's Gyan Prakash Pilania would retire next month.
