Protesting medicos injured in police lathicharge
Rohtak, Mar 7 (UNI) Several medical students, protesting against alleged irregularities in the entrance examination for the MD/MS/MDS at the PGIMS here, were injured in a police lathicharge today.
Police resorted to lathicharge when hundreds of students, who started a protest march from the PGIMS, insisted to proceed towards the local residence of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
Several people were injured in the lathicharge. Three of them were admitted to the Emergency Ward of the PGIMS.
The resident doctors later went on a 24-hour strike and threatened to make it 'indefinite' if strict action was not taken against the guilty policemen.
The students also demanded cancellation of the MD/MS/MDS examination conducted on February 24 by the Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak, alleging that deserving students were left out while dubious candidates were selected.
They demanded CBI inquiry into the matter and sought that the examination be reconducted.
Deputy Commissioner R S Doon later said the situation was under control.
