Minister's case: Pondy vigilance police gets one month time

Puducherry, Mar 7 (UNI) Puducherry Chief Judge and Special Judge for vigilance and anti-corruption cases D Krishna Raja today granted one more month's time to the Puducherry vigilance police to submit investigation report in the cases registered against Health Minister E Valsaraj.

Admitting a writ petition filed by one Valavil Sudhakaran of the Mahe region, he had directed the vigilance police to register a case and submit a report to the court after investigation on or before March 7. However, Vigilance Inspector Kaliyamurthy and Vigilance Counsel Singaravelu appeared before the court today and sought six months' time to submit the report.

Rejecting the plea, the Judge, however, granted a month to the police and asked them to submit the report by April 8.

In his petition, Mr Sudhakaran, a former Congress leader, had contended that the cooperative society in Mahe, headed by Mr Valsaraj, had purchased land for a B.Ed college at Palloor at a rate higher than the market price, thereby causing a huge loss to the cooperative department.
