Political parties to picket Pondy Assembly

Puducherry, Mar 6 (UNI) Several political parties and organisations will picket the Legislative Assembly here on March 13, to press the government to dismiss Health Minister E Valsaraj against whom the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Police have registered cases.

Addressing a press conference, leaders of four political parties, including Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and eight other organisations, said a resolution to this effect was adopted at a meeting last evening.

The resolution urged the administration to refer the cases to the CBI. It also condemned Rajya Sabha Member V Narayanasamy and the Chief Secretary for allegedly supporting the Minister.

They warned that they would call for a State-wide bandh if the administration failed to remove the Minister even after the picketing.

A memorandum would be submitted to the Lt Governor in this regard tomorrow, they said.
