TVS Group, IIT (M) to start finishing school in TN

Madurai, Mar 5 (UNI) Lakshmi Vidya Sangham, a wing of TVS Group of Companies, in association with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras will be starting a finishing School, the first-of-its-kind in this city for young engineering graduates, from the next academic year.

Disclosing to newsmen at a joint press conference here this evening, Prof M S Ananth , Director, IIT, Madras and Ms Shobhana Ramachandran, Managing Director of TVS Srichakra Limited said the Finishing School will offer the students a one-year Advanced Certificate Course on Engineering Design and Analysis with Practical Plant Training.

Engineering graduate students will have an opportunity to equip themselves with skills that are relevant to modern engineering practices in leading industries nationwide and worldwide, they claimed.

The school, with an intake of 30 students, would commence from July this year. The selection process would include South India Entrance Examination and interview.

After the completion of the programme, the TVS Group would absorb the students at their choice.

On the role of the IIT, Dr Ananth said senior professors from the institution will take classes, teach the students and oversee the conduct of examinations.

They will also help the students in the projects, along with the TVS Group engineers.
