Tripura Civil Service Officer's body found hanging in room

Agartala, Feb 28 (UNI) Police today recovered the body of senior Tripura Civil Service(TCS) officer and Returning Officer of a ensuing state Assembly election Sachi Mohan Debbarma from his official residence at Gandacharra.

Superintendent of Police Nepal Das said the deceased has been identified as the 51-year-old Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Gandacharra in Dhalai district of Tripura.

Mr Das said when his department was informed by the house attendant that Debbarma was not responding to his phone, a police team rushed to his residence and found his room locked from inside.

''On breaking open the door, we found him hanging from the ceiling,'' he added.

Debbarma was a resident of Abhoynagar area here and his 27-year-old son had died of cancer in 2006, Mr Das said, adding that he had gone to Gandacharra yesterday.

No suicide note or any other clue into his death had yet been found and senior police and civil service officials left for Gandacharra, he said.
