Minister promises honorarium hike for Anganwadi workers
Hyderabad, Feb 27 (UNI) Giving an assurance to raise the honorarium for Anganwadi workers and helpers, Andhra Pradesh Women and Child Welfare Minister N Rajyalakshmi today made it clear private players will not be involved in the implementation of the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS).
"There is no proposal for privatisation of any of the services of Anganwadi workers or helpers," the Minister informed the State Assembly, dismissing as mere speculation reports appearing in a section of the press.
The honorarium would be raised to bring it on par with the payment made by the neighbouring States to their Anganwadi workers and helpers, after a visit by the Department's officials, she said after CPI(M) Floor Leader N Narasimaiah sought to bring to notice the protest by women workers near the Indira Park coinciding with the Budget Session of the State Assembly, to press their demands.
The Minister promised to take appropriate action if specific instances of harassment of Anganwadi workers were brought to her notice.
