London, Feb 24 (UNI) He has inspired and been the subject of a plethora of cartoons and caricatures across the world, but for the first time a Norwegian museum has claimed to have discovered drawings by German dictator Adolf Hitler.

William Hakvaag, director of a war museum in northern Norway, claimed that he found the drawings hidden in a painting, Hakvaag bought in an auction in Germany.

The drawings were of Snow White characters Bashful and Doc along with a sketch of Pinocchio.

Hakvaag said the painting he bought was signed ''A. Hitler'' and believes the sketches were drawn by the Nazi leader himself during the Second World War.

The coloured cartoons of the characters from 1937 Disney classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs were signed ''A.H.'' while the Pinocchio sketch was unsigned.

However, the claim has not been officially confirmed so far, but it is well known that the dictator tried to make a living as an artist before his rise to power. He is also known to have owned a copy of the Disney classic, the Telegraph reported.

Claiming that the handwriting on the painting matches with that of Hitler's, Hakvaag said ''I am 100 per cent sure that these are drawings by Hitler. If one wanted to make a forgery, one would never hide it in the back of a picture, where it might never be discovered.'' Nineteen watercolours and two sketches said to be by Hitler were sold in Britain two years ago for a total of 118,000 pounds.
