B'desh congratulates Pak for successful holding of polls

Dhaka, Feb 20 (UNI) Bangladesh today congratulated Pakistan for successful holding of general elections, saying it would help ensure stability and prosperity in the country.

''We congratulate Pakistan and its people on the successful holding of the recent elections. We hope that this will usher in a new dawn of stability and prosperity in the country,'' Foreign Affairs Adviser of Bangladesh caretaker government Dr Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury said when asked to comment on the just concluded polls in Pakistan.

The Adviser felicitated those who have won for their victory and also those who have lost for the spirit in which they have accepted the results.

''We look forward to working closely with the new government when it is formed,'' he said.
