No attendant in election control room cum media centre

Shillong, Feb 13 (UNI) Journalists today took umbrage over the unannounced closure of the election 2008 control room-cum-media centre at the Meghalaya Secretariat.

Without giving any prior information to the media, the junior officials minding the centre, which was helping them to obtain election related materials till yesterday, had closed the room leaving many journalists at a lost for obtaining the necessary poll-related papers of the day like list of candidates who had filed their nomination papers for the day.

Mediapersons were shocked to learn that the doors of the centre were locked as there was nobody to attend the centre to help the press.

It was only later that the mediapersons were asked to collect necessary papers from the directorate of information and public relation of the state government.
