Four killed in building site fire in Moscow

Moscow, Feb 11 (UNI) Four people died in a fire at a building site in the east of Moscow, Emergency Situations Ministry spokesperson said.

The fire broke out on the 30th floor of an under-construction 36-storey building early morning.

''The fire covered an area of 70 square metre,'' the spokesman told RIA Novosti news agency.

The bodies of those killed in the fire have not yet been identified. According to reports, it is believed the four people were construction workers.

Investigators are trying to find out the cause of the fire.

Incidents involving construction workers, often illegal migrants from ex-Soviet republics, are frequent in the Russian capital, where the construction industry is booming.

Civil rights groups have highlighted the poor working conditions on many building sites in Moscow, where work often goes on throughout the night.
