Karat demands discussion on Israeli spy satellite
Hyderabad, Feb 10 (UNI) Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M) General Secretary Prakash Karat today demanded a detailed debate in Parliament on the Israeli spy satellite 'Texar', recently launched from the ISRO's spaceport of Sriharikota.
Addressing a press conference here, he demanded that the UPA Government at the Centre submit a detailed report on the Israeli satellite and its activities.
Mr Karat said there were reports in Israeli Press that Israel would use the satellite for spying purpose against Muslim countries like Iran, Iraq, Libya and Afghanistan, which would affect India's independent foreign policy.
Claiming that Israel was planning to launch two more such satellites from the ISRO space centre, he urged the Centre not to allow the Israelis to use ISRO for the purpose. ''Why should we help Israel when they are trying to attack other countries using the satellites. We don't want security collaboration with Israel,'' Mr Karat said.
