Godrej revenue to increase by 30 pc

Kolkata, Feb 9: Consumer durable major Godrej Appliances expect Rs 1,400 crore revenue this fiscal recording a 30 per cent surge.

The company had earned a revenue of Rs 1,100 crore last year. The refrigerator segment alone accounted for 60 per cent of the total earnings. Last year, the company earned a revenue of Rs 1,100 crore with refrigerator segment accounting for 60 per cent of it, Chief Operating Officer (Appliances Division) George Menezes today said.

Speaking at the launch of 'Edge Range of Direct Cool refrigerators here, Mr Menzes said the company had targeted a 40 per cent increase in the total revenue in the next fiscal.

Mr Menezes said the all-India refrigerator market recorded a growth of 13.3 per cent during January-December,2006-07, of which the larger direct cool segment increased by 6.7 per cent and the frost-free by 31.4 per cent.

"Godrej, on the other hand, grew by more than 30 per cent in both the direct cool and frost free segments in the country," he said.

In West Bengal, while the refrigerator category grew by 12 per cent, Godrej recorded double the industry growth at 26 per cent, he said.
