Jaipur, Feb 9 (UNI) The ruling BJP in Rajasthan today held a march to Raj Bhawan to press its demand for the inclusion of cold wave and ground frost related crop damages in the grant of compensation and relief under the Natural Calamity Relief Fund.
The party sitting MPs, MLAs, Zila Pramukhs, Deputy Zila Pramukhs, panchayat samitis' pradhans and party state office bearers participated in the march taken out from the BJP state headquarters here this afternoon.
Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje flagged off the march which was led by party state president Omprakash Mathur. A party delegation led by Mr Mathur also submitted a memorandum to the Governor Shilendra Kumar Singh in favour of the demand.
The march came close to the heels of the statewide demonstration and dharnas held by the Congress in all districts yesterday to press for adequate compensation to farmers for the crop damages sufferred by them due to prolonged cold spell and ground frost coupled with inadequate power supply.
The Congress had alleged that the ruling BJP was trying to politicise the issue and demanded immediate relief to the farmers from its own calamity relief fund.
