Maharashtra stops import of poultry products
Mumbai, Feb 5 (UNI) The Maharashtra Government today stopped the import of poultry, eggs and feeds from other states following the bird flu menace in West Bengal.
Animal Husbandry Minister Anees Ahmed, addressing a press conference here, said adequate steps have been taken by the Government to avoid and tackle bird flu in the state.
''We have set up a Rapid Response Team in every district of Maharashtra to tackle any untoward incident pertaining to the occurence of bird flu,'' Mr Ahmed said.
The Minister said as per the request of the Central Animal Husbandry department, the State's Animal Husbandry department had sent two doctors, and some more will be dispatched soon to help the West Bengal Government tackle the menace.
