Kids return with pledge of dedication to science
Bhopal, Feb 5 (UNI) After meeting India's top scientists and visiting leading science institutions over the past 10 days at Pune, Bangaluru and Kanyakumari, about 1,000 school students from Madhya Pradesh will return here tomorrow by a special train with a pledge to dedicate themselves to science and research.
''The pledge was taken at Kanyakumari's Vivekananda Memorial.
Scientists welcomed the initiative and enthusiastically responded to the children's queries,'' Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology (MPCOST) acting director Narendra Nath Mehrotra told UNI.
About 750 students of the Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education and 250 of the Central Board of Secondary Education and Navodaya Vidyalaya left here on February 28 last. They were accompanied by 100 teachers and MPCOST staff. Selection was made on the basis of inclination to science and academic records. From them, 100 would be chosen for a science study allowance.
