Haryana Cabinet transfers irrigation land to tourism dept

Chandigarh, Feb 4 (UNI) The Haryana Cabinet today decided to transfer a piece of land measuring 8.92 acres belonging to Irrigation Department at Hathnikund Barrage in Yamunanagar district to Tourism Department for setting up a tourist resort.

It was also decided to transfer the possession of a strip of 150 feet on both sides of the Western Yamuna Canal Link channel to tourism department, but its ownership will be retained by the Irrigation Department.

However the Tourism Department will not undertake any construction on this strip as the land can be required in future for capacity augmentation of the water channel.

The land would be transferred to Tourism Department free of cost.

The meeting of the Cabinet was held here under the chairmanhip of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
