Eight arrested in connection with attack on MLA

Narsinghpur, MP, Feb 3 (UNI) Eight people were today arrested in connection with the attack on Narsinghpur legislator Jalam Singh Patel and his bodyguard, police said.

Mr Patel and his bodyguard Rajendra Shukla were injured when they were attacked by few people with rods near toll tax barrier at Kareli area in this district last night.

He was going to meet management of Kareli sugar mill to discuss problems of sugarcane growers.

The accused were workers employed by the contractor of the toll tax barrier. Two guns were seized from them.

Meanwhile, Mr Patel's supporters set two two-wheelers on fire and burnt the toll tax barrier to protest the incident.

Uma Bharti-led Bharatiya Janshakti's former General Secretary Prahlad Patel criticised the attack on his younger brother Jalam Singh Patel and demanded strict action against the culprits.
