Royalists behind bomb explosion: Home Minister

Kathmandu, Jan 31(UNI) Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula has said royalists were behind the bomb explosions in some districts but that cannot disrupt the polls.

''Royalist forces have detonated bombs in some districts,'' The Himalayan Times quoted the Minister as saying.

When asked how the armed forces in Tarai would be treated before the polls, he said, ''The government will not remain a mere spectator in the face of criminal activities and will deploy security forces under the legal parameters.'' He said efforts will be made to strengthen the security situation till the polls and added the government would hold talks with the agitating forces in Tarai.

Major parties in Nepal have said that they would implement the parliament's declaration of republic abolishing the monarchy from the Himalayan nation.

Some political parties have also blamed the royalists of trying to disrupt the election as the monarchy is certain to be abolished if the election is held in April, according to the paper.
