Six die in Raigad Distt after consuming spirit
Alibag (Raigad), Jan 30 (UNI) Six adivasis, including a woman, died and five others bell ill after consuming spurious liquor at village Shardawadi in Sudhagad taluka, in Raigad district of Maharashtra.
According to officials from Raigad police station, the dead were residents of Shardawadi village and they had consumed 'spirit' to celebrate a marriage proposal of a villager. They added an addictive substance to the spirit for high intoxication, police said.
After consumption of the spirit this afternoon, they complained about stomach pain and were rushed to a hospital.
The six adivasis were declared dead on admission to the hospital, while five others, admitted to a private hospital in Nagothane, are undergoing medical treatment, added the officials.
The deceased were identified as Muktabai Namdeo Pujari (56), Bhaboji Kanu Pujari (60), Namdoe Kanu Pujari (55), Madhu Moru Wak (35), Kondu Madhu Wagude (70) and Ganaji Unaji Irwa (45).
