Need for special protection for women, kids felt
Gulbarga, Karnataka, Jan 29 (UNI) There is a need to sensitise the police to provide special protection for women, children and weaker sections of the society, Mr P K H Tharakan, Advisor to Karnataka Governor, said here today.
Speaking after inaugurating a three-day workshop on 'Gender Sensitisation and Police,'' organised jointly by Karnataka Police and UNICEF, Mr Tharakan exhorted police personnel to sensitise themselves in this regard.
The former RAW Chief appreciated the Karnataka Police for being in the forefront of the issue.
''Karnataka had become a model State on the issue with other States emulating it,'' he said.
A special training programme on dealing with cases of atrocities on women and children was also being provided to the Karnataka Police, he added.
