Haryana Govt for welfare of all sections of society: Hooda

Sonipat, Jan 28 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today claimed that his government has taken number of steps for the welfare of every section of the society including farmers, traders, industrial workers during past three years.

Addressing a public meeting after laying the foundation stone of NCR Water Supply Canal Project at Delhi Branch of West Jamuna Canal near Kakroi village in the district, Mr Hooda said that giving one of the top priorities to the welfare of farmers, the state government had exempted their electricity bills amounting to Rs 1600 crore and also waived off the interests of Rs 830 crore on cooperative loans.

He said that the previous state government had paid only Rs 150 crore as compensation to the farmers for acquisition of their land for construction of Kundli-Maneshar-Palwal Express Way. But after record increase in the floor rates of the land in the region by his government, the same farmers have got additional compensation of Rs 500 crore, he said.

Reiterating his commitment to overcome the shortage of power supply by 2010, Mr Hooda said that the state government had started the process of setting up three new power generating projects of 600 MW at Yamunagar, of 1200 MW at Khedar in Hissar and of 1500 MW at Jharli in Jhajjar district. He claimed that there would not be any shortage of power after completion of these projects by 2010.

Speaking on the ocassion Irrigation Minister Capt Ajai Singh said that the equal distribution as well as increase in canal water supplies was one of the top priorities of the government and to achieve this, Hansi-Butana Multipurpose canal and Dadupur-Nalvi Canal were being constructed on war footing.

The government had also finalised a project to augment the water carrying capacity of West Jamuna Canal from the existing capacity of 13,000 cusics to 20,000 cusics.

Referring to the demands of the villagers, the Chief Minister announced a grant of Rs 20 lakh from Haryana Rural development Fund for metalling of village streets; Rs 11 lakh for construction of boundary wall of village cremation ground and construction of three link roads.

Later, Mr Hooda laid the foundation stone of Indira Gandhi Convenient Shopping Complex-cum-Housing Board Colony in Sector-23 here.
