Indians in Russia celebrate Republic Day
Moscow, Jan 26 (UNI) Braving severe cold and freezing temperature, members of the Indian community in large numbers gathered today at the Embassy premises to celebrate the 59th Republic Day with great fanfare.
The ceremony commenced at 10:00 hours local time, with the unfurling of the National Flag by ambassador Prabhat Shukla, followed by singing of the National Anthem and a reading of President Pratibha Devisingh Patil's address to the nation.
A group of students from Moscow-based Kendriya Vidyalaya (Central School) sang patriotic songs, followed by light refreshments.
