Don't blame us on Telangana issue: CPI(M) to Congress
Hyderabad, Jan 25 (UNI) Communist Party of India(Marxist) Polit Bureau member Sitaram Yechuri today asked the ruling Congress not to blame his party for its inability to take a decision on the Telangana issue.
Though major parties, including the CPI(M), had made known their stand on the issue, it was the Congress alone which had not spelt its stand in clear terms before the UPA Committee on Telangana, headed by External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee, he told a press conference here.
''Please don't rest the gun on our shoulders and open fire,'' Mr Yechuri told the Congress, whose leaders in Telangana had been claiming that the party was unable to take a decision on the issue as the survival of the Government led by it was in the hands of the CPI(M), which opposed bifurcation of the State.
CPI(M) stalwart P Sundaraiah had submitted a scientific report as early as 1968 for the overall development of the backward region and the same should be implemented, he opined.
